If the court can overrule the PM and the government voting unanimously to fire the head of the shin bet, and if those who support the courts say that that’s their right because they provide checks and balances, just answer me this.
Where are the balances?
Meaning, is there anything the court can NOT do?
If they can overrule anything the government does because they think the democratically elected government is not acting in a reasonable fashion, what can’t they do?
For example, if the government institutes capital punishment for terrorists and hypothetically speaking, the courts were ultra left and wanted to protect the rights of terrorists, should they be allowed to over rule this law?
Let’s go even further. Let’s say one of the judges stubbed his toe that morning and was in a really bad mood. And let’s say the government that day passed a law that Israel will always be a Jewish state, can the court over rule that because of their mood that day?
Obviously I’m exaggerating to make a point here.
Where are the balances? If the courts are the checks for the government, where are the balances? Who limits the court?
What can the court NOT do?
Again, not looking to argue. Genuinely trying to understand the people who oppose the judicial reform. Should the courts have unlimited power? Would that be your opinion if the courts were ultra right? (Think about that for a second. If Ben Gvir was a judge, would you also be ok with him over ruling the government if the government was a leftist government?)

The Red Cross refused to provide check-ins or medicine delivered to the hostages – even though they have always demanded to be allowed to do such things for other hostages in other international situations.
They even told hostages’ family members that they had no right to ask for them to help the hostages, and literally told them that they should instead be thinking of the suffering people in Gaza. This is literally a couple of months into the war.
All they did was on a handful of occasions when hostages were returned by Hamas rather than rescued by the IDF was drive them over to the Israelis – including making a pit stop at the Hamas ceremonies where hostages received “goodie bags” and were forced to pretend that they liked their captors.
The Red Cross literally drove Israeli hostages to Hamas propaganda ceremonies before returning them home.
They also helped cover up the Holocaust when that was happening.
They have always refused to help Israelis, and allowed their vehicles to be used by Palestinian terrorists throughout the intifadas.
They were so unreliable for Israelis that the Israelis, unique in the WORLD, had to create their own “Red Cross,” so that they had those services too.
The Red Cross is TRASH. It’s an antisemitic organization that assists terrorists in their propaganda.
The fact that it has in no way caused anything resembling an international scandal that the Red Cross literally drove hostages to terrorist propaganda ceremonies, further abusing the hostages, is why I have absolutely no hesitation in saying the following:
