Anjem Choudary: ‘Islam Does Not Mean Peace’ – London Imam Says Paris Murders Show ‘Consequences’ of Insulting Islam

Anjem Choudary London Imam IslamLondon Imam Anjem Choudary said that “you can see very well now in Paris, what the consequences of insulting the prophet are” and you need to understand that in Islam, this [insulting Mohammed] carries capital punishment” on Wednesday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.

Choudary explained his earlier comments on the massacre that free speech did not extend to those who insult Islam meant “these things need to be put into context. We’re talking about a French government who have banned the burqa, they refuse Muslims to build mosques now in Paris, they are engaged in occupation of the Muslim land and even killing Muslims now in Syria and Iraq.”

He then complained that “many right-wing organizations are now allowed to espouse their own anti-Islamic ideas openly,” although he did not dispute the existence of no-go zones in Europe.

When asked whether he really believes in freedom of religion or speech Choudary responded, “we believe that sovereignty and supremacy belongs to God, and therefore we believe in submitting to the commands of God.” And argued that hate speech laws and laws against inciting violence were no different than what he was proposing.

Choudary then declared “you need to understand that in Islam, this carries capital punishment. We saw before with Theo Van Gogh and Salman Rushdie.” And “we live in a very unstable and insecure world today, which you can see very well now in Paris, what the consequences of insulting the prophet are. And what we are saying is that the sensibilities and the emotions of Muslims must be taken into consideration in the context in which we live today.”

He added that he wanted to see the implementation of Sharia Law, which prohibits insulting Islam, and that he believes this is the true form of Islam.

The discussion then turned to Choudary’s other beliefs, he agreed that those who leave Islam should be put to death, but argued that “Christians and Jews can live by side-by-side with the Muslims.”

Regarding women’s rights he said that the way women dress should be “determined by divine law,” and that adulterers should be tried in court. He also conceded that engaging sodomy “carries capital punishment” under Sharia Law.

Choudary then remarked “Islam does not mean peace, Sean, it means submission, submission to the commands of God,” and accused the US of occupying Islamic lands and murdering Muslims.

The interview concluded with Hannity referring to Choudary as an “evil SOB” and Choudary telling Hannity to look in the mirror. Choudary also brought up waterboarding by the US, to which Hannity responded that only three people were waterboarded and “they all deserved it.”
