Manischewitz is a true mevushal wine [it is boiled wine]. The reason so much sugar is added is because boiled wine tastes horrible on its own. Most Kosher mevushal wine now is boiled in the sense of flash pasteurization, so it does not ruin the original taste of the wine. I like Manischewitz though.
I like the taste of beer. My favorites are "Blue Moon", and "Fat Tire" [both are Kosher of course]. A good beer or two makes a meal all that much more enjoyable, and it stimulates the appetite.
I like single malt scotch as well, however, much of it is not Kosher because of the way it is aged [in sherry barrels or butts; sherry is a wine and would need to be Kosher for a Jew to consume.].
It is a true joy to consume alcohol to the point where it gladdens the heart, but drinking alcohol too often or too much of it wears a heart into sorrows.
