A man was arrested outside of a Miami Beach synagogue after threatening members of the Ohev Shalom Congregation, but the synagogue’s Rabbi is not backing down:

Diego Chaar, who converted to Islam while in prison, was tracked down a few blocks away from the synagogue and was arrested on accounts of assault and stalking, according to local reports.

As people entered and exited the place of worship, Chaar allegedly shouted:

“Allah Akbar,” as well as, “We will cut your heads off.”

Rabbi Phineas Webberman is not cowering in the face of threats.. He was unabashed in calling out Chaar’s actions, saying:

“That’s called assault. Threatening to kill,” adding, “How would you feel if I said ‘I’ll cut your head off you Jew.’ It shouldn’t be. It shouldn’t be allowed.”

The Rabbi was blunt in attributing the threats to jihadist beliefs:

“His attitude was that this is his religious responsibility of carrying out killing infidels.”

Rabbi Webberman finished with some strong words for Chaar, who was previously arrested for drug possession:

“Change your religion to a religion of life, not one of death.”

Since the attack, the synagogue has invested in extra security personnel to protect its practitioners.
