The two reasons why people call the Irgun and the Stern Gang terrorists is because 1) it is a doctrine of liberalism to believe that all cultures and religions are equally good and/or evil, and so vilifying such Jews is their way of equating Jews with islamofascists and nazis; and 2) because antisemitism is so deeply ingrained into the Western mind that they call any Jew who defends the lives of their own people to be terrorists. Those who call Israel in general an aggressive, imperialistic terrorist entity, do so because they do not believe that Jews have just as much right to their one tiny strip of land as the islamofascists have a right to their 57 countries with their endless amounts of oil.
The real truth is that people such as Menachem Begin were anything but terrorists. On the contrary, Begin was trying to put a stop to the British practice of not letting Jews into their own Jewish land of Israel. Many of those Jews attempting to enter Israel were trying to flee from adolf shitler.
We have an illlegal immigration problem here in America. 90% of them are Mexicans trying to make a better economic life for themselves. Suppose, though, that instead of wanting a better life, they were fleeing for their very survival, with the whole world wanting them dead? At that point, any American who would oppose them coming here, would be considered quite cruel by his fellow Americans.
Such was the case in Israel; add to this fact that Israel is meant to be the Jewish land in the first place, as clearly stated by G-d Himself in the Torah.
So Menachem Begin was no terrorist. On the contrary, he was one of the greatest heroes our Jewish people have ever produced. If not for his mistake in judgment in giving away the Sinai once he became Prime Minister, that righteous man would have deserved to enter the Kingdom of G-d the moment he shuffled off his mortal coil.
