Rand Paul and Rick Santorum Dropping Out of Race
The field narrows. Rand Paul has officially dropped out of the presidential race:
Republican Presidential candidate Senator Rand Paul announced on Wednesday that he is dropping out, following a disappointing Iowa caucus for the libertarian Tea Partier.
“It’s been an incredible honor to run a principled campaign for the White House,” said Paul. “Today, I will end where I began, ready and willing to fight for the cause of Liberty.”
Senator Paul has a strong base of support, and a lot of carry-over from his father’s loyal base, but was not able to put together enough to compete in this dramatically different primary race.
Rick Santorum has also officially dropped from the race:
Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum will be dropping out of the Republican presidential race to the White House, according to a CNN report.
… The news comes after Santorum finished in last place at Monday’s Iowa caucus, earning just one percent of support. He trailed behind a four-way tie of sixth-place finishers: Rivals Carly Fiorina, John Kasich, Mike Huckabee, and Chris Christie all came in at just two percent. Santorum was not awarded any delegates from the state.
